Annabelle:Creation Review – just like any other haunted doll movie

By on August 21, 2017

Do you remember the creepy doll from conjuring yes, the Annabelle. When we first saw it in the Conjuring series, it sent shivers down our spine. After watching conjuring, we might have got away with any of the rag dolls present in our houses because when we looked at those dolls, they may have reminded us of Annabelle. So, when Annabelle 2 came, we got so excited and started wondering, how will the dolls scare us this time? But, to our disappointment, the thrills displayed in the movies are not that scary, and it is similar to just another story of a haunted doll. Like always, Annabelle goes on the possession spree to target good people.

Story:

Annabelle 2 is set in 1940’s era in the arid regions of the USA, where former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife Esther lived with a daughter. However, at very young age, their daughter dies in a car accident, and they try to revive their daughter’s spirit. After trying for a long time, they realize that they invited the demon themselves who wishes to possess the weaker one. After, few years down the line group of orphaned kids along with their nun enters the house. In conjuring, Valak scared the hell out of us, but here in Annabelle, the nun is just like another victim who falls prey to the demon. The demon finds his prey and creates havoc in the kids. Finally, the demon makes his way through one of the young crippled girls.

Director, David F Sandberg has used the silence to build suspense and trigger horror. There are various moments in the film with silence and stillness make us hooked to the screen full of horror. As the movie progress, it gets interesting. The film has various surprise elements like devil entrance song is You’re My Sunshine by Johnny Cash and gist of a little humor. Moreover, the girl names Talitha Bateman polio afficted becomes victim to the devil and who can hear her cries deep down, so you get fully engaged with the character.

What’s lacking in the movie?

There are less spooky elements in the movie. Especially, the climax of the movie is hurried so much that you might end up saying what was that? If you compare it with The Conjuring and it’s sequence the movie is not that long. The horror episodes seem so predictable and lack any thrilling element to it.

At last, we would say that it is a basic story of a creepy doll who chooses its prey but aren’t we done with the same horror flicks instead, we all want to see what devil can do next and what all thrilling things can take place as the demon becomes unstoppable.
